As the curtains draw close on the year 2023, I find myself reflecting on the challenges that marked this chapter, casting a somber light on the global stage. The year has been particularly harsh for those affected by wars worldwide, the plight of refugees, and the struggles faced by the homeless and the marginalized. Political landscapes have shifted, not only across various regions but notably within our own nation, the Netherlands. In the midst of these challenging trials, we find ourselves navigating through times that demand an unwavering source of hope and faith in a brighter, more beautiful world.

Within the corridors of the Foundation Academy of Amsterdam, however, a different narrative unfolds. Despite the pervasive challenges that have echoed globally, I take pride in stating that it has been a year of significance for us. As is our tradition, we have diligently worked to extend the “gift” of academic education to the marginalized, an accomplishment made possible through the dedication of our volunteer workers, impassioned volunteer/ guest lecturers, and our committed staff. Of course, none of this would have been achievable without the indispensable support of our sponsors. Your steadfast support has served as the cornerstone of our endeavors.
In expressing my gratitude, I seize this moment to extend heartfelt wishes to each one of you. May the coming year usher in an abundance of peace, joy, and good health.
